This track, made years ago, takes me back to the moment I decided to start making tracks with hardware only, using Ableton more like a tool for light editing and mixing. One of the first attempts was sounding very promising, but, due to unhealthy perfectionism, after trying and failing to make it sound the way I wanted, I put it away, hoping to get another, better shot next day. This tendency is common among producers in their early career, who strive for that unreachable, „professional” sound before they consider themselves ready to share their work.

Over 2 years after I forgot that this project existed, I found it randomly searching through my hard drive. Turns out it was only a few clicks away from what I’d consider „playable” right now. Looking back at my thoughts from back then, it all just seems a bit amusing, how I was beating myself up for not being able to bring it to a certain level. But this was all part of the process.

My motto for today (and everyday):
